| The Ordnance QF 25 pounder, better known as the 25-pdr, entered service just before World War 2 and was the primary artillery field piece of the British Army until the 1960s, Considered by many to be the best field gun of its time, with a high rate of fire combined with mobility and ease of use, every gunner until the 1980s learnt their craft on the 25-pdr. Still in service with some armies and used in combat as recently as 2003.
